This camera will sell thousands of units if it came in polka dot color. The other thing is it does not have a dedicated video button.

I'm wondering if this marketing has really raised Pentax camera sales.

Why, does everyone need a black camera only?

Much as the movie industry is now bigger worldwide than just in the U.S., cameras with colour will sell outside the U.S. in less straight-laced photographic communities.

It should just come with a spray kit - panels that can be disconnected and some spray cans.

Actually.... this is something that I've always thought was overlooked by companies that candy wrap their cameras like these. Cammo... green, brown, or gray would actually look great, and would be functional at the same time.

Pentax did a similar thing or the K-X and other earlier models. It's not ground breaking but it is popular with some people. I had a white K-X which was a lot less threatening to some people. I was able to take photos of my kids in playgrounds without people hassling me, whereas if you bring out a big black camera people tend to get suspicious.

The K-30 is a great camera whatever colour you buy it in.

I can see the folks at Pentax have been working over time to come up with this brilliant marketing ploy. Running out of ideas are we?

Pentax has made color cameras for several years now. Seems they release some new colors mid cycle or so.

Uhh, the folks at Japan had even more colors to choose from RIGHT FROM THE START. So nah, they're still at the table doing something else bigger. They're just entertaining us with releases like this because the next project's taking too long lol.
