Shouldn't we expect something similar for D800 as well, since they both use the same AF and metering sensor?

This is too much like shooting fish in a barrel. Nikon fail at everything they do.

At least d4 is in studio compariso tool but 1dx no.
Also this should be about the firmware not other things. Anyone who tested yet the new firmware?

Hey Universeal, I downloaded the new firmware soon after it was released. Basic camera operation hasn't changed so far as I can tell when it comes to focusing, the camera appeared to be a little more predictable when using a single point to continuously focus but it's hard to tell any real difference. For all I know it could just be a placebo.

I've been waiting forever for Nikon to fix the annoying green cast on their D800's color LCD display.

What QA Bugs? There weren't any in the June batch so have some crept in since then or are you just trolling?

Three comments in 5 years... Hmmmm.... If you would be more active you would have the answer and would not need to post such troll post.

Nikon thinks sprinkling oil on the sensor is normal and users have to pay for regular sensor cleaning. They also deny the green tint and any other deficiencies. In their crooked corporate world, honest users are trolls.

A little comedy or originality wouldn't be amiss. You trolls have no imagination these days, just trotting out the same tired old myths.

Your cat portraits are out of focus I'm afraid to say, I don't think the new firmware will help that much!

I own a D4 and find the news about new firmware very useful.

just curious - why would DPR provide firmware notice for the D4/users and yet - the camera has not been review?

Because... D4 owners might find it useful?

You mean would be owners might find it useful. I'd like to read the review of a camera I can't afford, but can dream of owning.

I've seen some very dumb posts on DPR so I can't claim this is dumbest but it's definitely up there... Is DPR just supposed to pretend a camera doesn't exist if it hasn't been reviewed?

Simply put DPR staff may not have the expert knowledge or capability to review such a camera. Something happen to this site - and I've been here since 2005 !
Still love this site with my daily access. However getting something interesting to read is like .... wining a lottery these day.

It may also be a harbinger of things to come, like the eagerly awaited firmware update for the very affordable D600. Owners are yearning to be able to change aperture while in live-view (apparently an exotic feature for the folks at Nikon).

Maybe Nikon did not supply a review sample

This thread, here in a nutshell is what is wrong with the internet (people), one small informational post, and a pile of negativity follows. its like a bunch of teenagers have been collectively asked what they did at school today.

Huh?

Since when is DPR only allowed to show news of a camera if and only if they have published its review?

Sorry but it is physically impossible for a D600 to change the aperture during live view. It lacks the dedicated aperture motor of the D800 and D4 so it can't change the aperture without raising the mirror.

I have never understood why review sites need a "review sample" - just hire or borrow one for goodness sake, its not like they are new...

Buying new, from their on parent company, and then selling slightly used a few weeks later, they would not even lose that much money. Nothing comparable to office rent and stuff salary for the same time.
Besides, with manufacturer-provided copy you might see quite different level of quality control...
