And no review of any GRD since the first model :(
Although it was (almost) promised with the preview of this camera.
I'm using a GF II with 28mm pancake, but the lense creates too much distortion. Should have gotten this camera instead! I love my GRD I, it still 'kindof' works.

Yes, I agree. It's great to see that Ricoh takes care of its cameras with firmware updates. The GRD IV is my favourite camera!

...and a firm that continues to support customers with upgrades in firmware years after the release of the camera.
Sony et al., I'm looking at you.

A great camera with fantastic ergonomics and lens..
Can't wait for the GRD 5 with an RX100 sensor!

I've had the GRD II, two III's and IV It's my all time favourite camera for dimensions, build, lens, angle of view... but I gave up because of the sensor which is just too noisy now... so totally agree! ( now dreaming) what about an x3f Foveon sensor: Sigma x Ricoh .... I'm not sure you'd ever need another camera for all the reasons we love it?

Here's hoping they don't give up on it and give it the modern sensor it so richly deserves?..... mono-culture.com

I agree and I sure do miss my GRD III which is probably my favorite compact of all time.

As far as the sensor, I was extremely happy with the CCD sensor of the current GRD as ISO 80 produced by far the cleanest files of any P&S. No noise to be found anywhere. High ISOs aren't great, but lower setting were are stunning.

Aw heck, they should give it a FULL FRAME sensor, like the original!!

Wouldn't that be something? A GRD with the RX100s sensor. The mind boggles at how much fun that would be.

Haven't you heard the rumors? Aps-c is what they are saying!

I was just thinking the same thing. A Ricoh GR with a decent sized sensor would be fabulous.

Here's the 'official' rumor link.... it makes sense since Ricoh submitted a patent on 2 new lens designs, both in APS-C format:
