Rokinon launches Cine 16mm T2.2 lens for APS-C and Micro Four Thirds

Rokinon has made available a video version of the Samyang 16mm f/2.0 prime. The 16mm T2.2 Cine lens is available for pre-order in Nikon F, Canon EF, Micro Four Thirds, Sony A, and Sony E mounts. Like other video primes, it offers focus and aperture racks for use with cinema rigs, stepless aperture control, and calibration in T-stops rather than F-stops. B&H is offering each at $529 for pre-order.

Rokinon's website lists compatible mounts for Pentax, Samsung NX and Fujifilm X though they aren't yet available for pre-order, and lists the lens at an MSRP of $499. The sample video below is from Rokinon's site, shot with the 16mm T2.2 and a Canon EOS 60D.

At long last, after all the junker camera announcement that just came out of Canon.... here is something valuable at a super attractive price that a lot of photographers and particularly videographers will find invaluable. I am with the Koreans on this all the way!

i had once a Samyang lens for a couple days, this 16mm Rokinon one is also made by the Southkorean brand, with its all-plastic barrel the 35mm lens felt a little cheap, the lens was showing more barrel distortion than a similar lens f exp Sigma.
The bokeh at large apertures was unsatisfied, i agree, the definition of bokeh is subjective, but the Samyang 35mm 1.4, instead of visualising a smooth and gradual move to blur, it produced an image where the out of focus areas were distracting, so why would you get such a fast lens if you can't use it with large apertures? Also, the 35mm is not weather sealed.
Of course they're pricey, but i would not buy any lens from Samyang again for the moment, better pay 200 Dollar more and get a Nikon Canon Sigma Tamron or whatever Japanese lens, maybe Samyang needs some more years to compete with the Japanese or German manufacturers.

I have no clue why your comment is like this. Are you from Japan or China. I know they tend to bash Korean products. Samyang makes some really nice lenses and for the price ...is just simply outstanding. The performance on the 85mm is so so great. I use it more than my 85 canon L. There is a cultural reason to why price is the way it is priced. In Korea....they are still conditioned in the culture to keep prices honest. The Canon and Zeiss lenses are so overpriced. People are so conditioned that high price is value. It is ridiculous. I mean really ridiculous. And the fact photographers are comparing a $4000 canon cinema lens to a $400-$600 lens really baffles me. I don't think you have any what Korea and China will produce. China needed some time ...now they have lots of money and power.....this country is going to make some great things as well as Korea.
Just stick with your Canon and Zeiss lenses and quit making trouble.

The biggest issue I see with this is the fact that the guy is washing his car while it's dry (@1:03). C'mon, maaaan, rinse the damn thing first!!!

I personally would see more issue in washing an absolutely clean car... howver, for the price this lens is useful.

Is that the same optical design for DSLRs and mirrorless? Bit of a waste releasing a retrofocal lens with all that space behind the rear element on a short mirrorless mount, but being a pro video lens I guess people aren't buying it for the size.

I'm just waiting for those idiotic comments from silly people who'll come up and tell us this lens sucks because it's a 24mm-f/3.3 or a 32mm-f/4.4. Other than that I couldn't care less about this lens. It is just waiting for the slightest pretext to merrily disintegrate itself, like all Rokinon/Samyang/Opteka/Whatever lenses.

I would much rather pay seven times more for a Canon or Zeiss cine lens.
