We've been fans of Aaron Johnson's comic strip 'What the Duck' for years. 'WTD' is one of the best satirical comic strips in the world, and we're pleased to announce that we'll be publishing it on dpreview.com, starting today!

WTD #1382

What the Duck is a comic strip by Aaron Johnson. It started as a webcomic, with the first strip posted in July 2006. The strip has appeared as print in numerous photography magazines including Amateur Photographer in the UK. It was picked up for syndication in 2008 by Universal Press Syndicate under the name W. T. Duck.

Personally I find it almost as funny as watching a pot of boiling water, or buying a pair of socks.
Bit of a lame duck really.

The link directory for now (see above) but I'm hoping to also incorporate it into the weekly newsletter.

Lovely stuff, that. Gentle humour, maybe not of the LOL brand, but welcome comic relief when photographic, or rather gear-related passions are about to boil over ... ;-)

It appears I am in a minority but I have read these for years in Amateur Photographer and don't find them at all funny.

Still reading 'em though?

Yes I still read them. Very occassionally there is one that makes me smile - The one you have chosen to include in this article is, in fact, one of the better ones.

Like I said, I appear to be in a minority. Maybe I'm just a miserable so-and-so.

BaldCol, I agree 100%. This must be one of the most unfunny cartoon strips ever produced. What failed to amuse in "Amateur Photographer" is now failing to amuse on a worldwide basis.

Not entirely coincidentally, DPReview's Barney Britton used to work for that august publication. I wonder when DPReview will start featuring a weekly column written by Amateur Photographer's resident terminal bore Roger Hicks?

Please no, not Roger Hicks! The singularity of boring in a magazine of terminal bores. Reading AP almost made me give up photography, enough said...

You are right. WTD? You all have too much time on your hands. Where is the continuity in WTD #1382? I guess we all have different senses of humour. I am afraid these don't even raise a smile for me.

I love WTD. Its copyright allows it to be published free of charge in not for profit publications, so I try to include one in my camera club newsletter every month.

But what I _really_ liked was a recent strip that gave an answer to the most irritating questing we get on the flickr Photoshop Support group. Priceless

I like that first cartoon - it's nice to see techy topics in a non-techy, non-serious environment. That third frame up there is, well, disturbing...

wow really relevant on this site.....Add the gearshop and a cartoon and the transformation from a relevant tech site to a soccer mom mall is perfected

Really...?...The great Gearshop idea and the relaxing cartoon hook-up is what bothers you?
Myself, I am more worried with the "Connect" hipster-coffee shop mentality drifting and the tendency to select obviously unsuited contributors, as forum moderators.
