Panasonic updates 12-35mm F2.8 firmware to improve video stabilisation

Panasonic has issued a firmware update for its Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm F2.8 ASPH Power OIS fast standard zoom for Micro Four Thirds cameras (H-HS12035). Version 1.2 improves the stability of the optical image stabilisation during movie recording. It's available to download now from the LUMIX customer support site - click below for the link.

Panasonic announces the new firmware update program for the interchangeable lens LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S. (H-HS12035) of Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) camera system LUMIX G to enhance the performance.

The firmware update program is available at http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/index.html, LUMIX Customer Support Site.

LUMIX G Digital Interchangeable Lens H-HS12035 2013/05/14 Ver.1.2 Improved the stability of O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) in motion picture recording.

I sure would like a better explanation on what was changed, because I can't tell a difference in the OIS, but it feels like the lens misses focus more often now (GH2)

OIS turned on or off? Not best to use both IBIS and OIS the same time

I don't know how they talk and negotiate but I hope the lens and camera could decide themselves, to turn on which or both in a cooperation mode to get the best result.

I don't think there's any sophisticated negotiation, and certainly no combination mode of operation. If you turn power OIS on, I believe Olympus uses that instead of IBIS. Turn OIS off if you want IBIS stabilization.
