Nikon UK launches Coolpix L320 superzoom, US announces Coolpix S3500

Nikon Europe has announced the Coolpix L320 CCD-based superzoom, while Nikon USA has announced the Coolpix S3500. The 16MP L320 features a 22.5–585mm equiv. zoom lens, 3.0" LCD, 720p HD recording and runs on two AA batteries. It will be available from the end of this month at a retail price of around £199.99. Nikon USA has announced the Coolpix S3500, revealed last week in Europe.

With a super-zoom lens and 720p movie recording, the COOLPIX L320 offers great technology that is easy-to-use to make sure memorable moments are reliably captured. Easy Auto mode optimises all settings according to the light you are in, making shooting effortless.
 
The NIKKOR 26x extreme wide-angle optical zoom lens with 22.5–585mm range will cover everything from sweeping vistas to distant action. Meanwhile, a 16-megapixel CCD image sensor and four different automatic anti-blur functions, along with Lens shift VR (vibration reduction) counters the effects of camera shake ensuring sharp images every time.
 
All this is powered by convenient AA batteries so you don’t have to worry about running out of power– whether you’re at home or travelling abroad.

It's not a camera that interests me personally but what does anyone expect for that price? A few years ago people would have been drooling over that range, some people need to get real.

22 - 585mm Blimey! I feel like I'd want a viewfinder at that magnification, might make it easier to hold the thing steady. AA batts are a good idea though...
