X-Rite i1Profiler v1.4 features scanner profiling

X-Rite has released i1Profiler v1.4, an update of its color management software for Mac and Windows, to include scanner profiling. The update also extends support to Mac 10.8x and Windows 8 and includes other improvements as well. Version 1.4 is available for immediate download from the company's website.

As the owner of 4 X-rite products (i1d2, i1dDisplay Pro, Color Munki Photo, Colorchecker), I can't help but be disappointed by the fact that the cheapest way to get access to the scanner profiling feature is to buy a 4th product (i1Publish Pro).

Fortunately, there are more financially available solutions!

"Scanner profiling is available with with i1Photo Pro, i1Photo Pro 2, i1Publish Pro, i1Publish Pro 2, and i1Publish software upgrades. The i1Display Pro offers monitor and projector profiling but does not offer printer or scanner profiling."

It doesn't replace i1ProfilerD2LionEdition, which is for the i1 Display2. I doubt you'll see any more updates for that unit.

The new version is for the i1 Display Pro and up.

Does that replace i1ProfilerD2LionEdition? Which is quite beta and suffers compatibility problems. Or is it only for newer profiler devices?

Does this apply to the colormunki profiler as well? So many names for so many different profilers from the same company- hard to keep it all straight!

I bought a i1Display Pro in December (still haven't opened it yet) so it's nice to see that it's still getting software support.
