dpreview.com gets mobile

By dpreview staff on Mar 7, 2012 at 02:14 GMT

We've just added a mobile version of dpreview, to make it easier to get to our content from your cellular, mobile or generally portable devices. In this first iteration we've made it easy browse reviews, news stories, articles and previews. Forums and commenting support will come in later versions. However, although we think m.dpreview will make it easier to enjoy the site, we've placed small links at the bottom of every page to swap between the mobile and desktop versions.

Thank you, thank you. I have owned a Samsung Galaxy II since December and it has become my best friend. Now I don't mind sitting alone in restaurants any more...

Funny that just yesterday I added dpreview to my bookmarks on my new android phone and wondered about a mobile version. Sweet.

This is great. The text is a little too big for my liking. I don't want to change the settings on my phone because then other mobile sites would have text too small. Do you think you can add a text size section where the user can choose between say 3 sizes of text?

Very good. Thank you. Especially appreciate that you made it a web site adapted to small screens and not yet another retarded semi-webpage app to download and update.

On my Galaxy Note Android phone, I will probably be running the full version for the time being, seeing as I have 1280x800 px to play with. But it's nice to know that an optimized hand held version is being perfected.

I have the samsung omnia 7 (with windows phone 7)...

How do you scroll between featured topics on the home page... Is this a compatibility issue with the windows phone???...

Thank you for the mobile version... dpreview rocks, always has and always will...

And please guys, this is the first iteration... This is what the forum is for, they will fix the issues...

Wow it is funny how much people bitch about things that are FREE! Anyways love the mobile version, thanks so much. Though I can't seem to 'log in' anywhere to add a comment, while I can read the comments, is this just me being a numpty?

On a slow connection, DPR for desktop used to be the slowest of all sites i like to check regularly. Thanks for the mobile version and let's hope it is faster than the desktop edition (couldn't test the mobile version so far).

It worked at first, but having chosen to go back to the desktop version, now I can't return to the mobile version even if I address 'm.dpreview.com' (iOS5, Safari)

The first time I held an iPhone in 2007 the first thing I did was go to DP Review to see how the browser handled a "real" website. The circle is now complete.

It was a lot quicker for me to navigate 'my stuff' on the old version. I don't get the point of THIS mobile edition. It may work for some who just scan headlines and enjoy advertising. Everybody else has to dig menus now. What a cr@p!

Your development staff has a lot of work ahead before you should start bragging about your new mobile site. Personally I would rather that you develop a decent application for the Android platform.

It is very difficult to navigate the forums as it stands now.

Please keep trying. I know you will eventually get it worked out.
