Apple Raw update brings support for 11 cameras, including D600 and RX100

Apple has issued Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.01, adding support for 11 cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11. The update includes support for many of the latest cameras including the Nikon D600, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100, Canon EOS-M and Panasonic G5. Many of the latest enthusiast compacts, including the Canon G15 and S110, and Panasonic DMC-LX7 are also covered, though there's still no support for recent high-end Fujifilm models.

Is the RAW RX-100 support available for OS 10.6.8 and if not, anyone know if it ever will be?

Still no support for Fujifilm X10 RAW-files. Though I have tons of photos in Aperture, will maybe finally switch to LR4, cause I also like its RAW conversion of my Nikon files...

i installed the update, but still can't work with the NEF Files of my Nikon D600. Still marked as unsupported Fileformat. In the browser where i select the files for import, i can see he pic, but when imported, it's unsupported. Caan somebody help me?
OSX Mountanlion, Apperture 3.4.1, with the RAW Update 4.0.1 listed as installed.

All I can suggest is to use the software that was written for the D600 - Capture NX2.

Try to reprocess your originals from the "Photos" menu.

thx for the tip. but when i reprocess them, aperture says, no file has to be reprocessed. It's the same when i import fresh nef files. Aperture dosn't recognize the D600 NEF Format. I don'T know..

ok, i know the problem know, i imported the files from the sd card via NikonTransfer1.
NikonTransfer1 destroyed the .nef files.
I installed NikonTransfer2 and imported some files from the card, and now everything works fine. So if you have previously imported .nef files from the nikon d600 with transfer1, they are in heaven know ;-)
thx nikon for that, but now i know. Uninstalled NikonTransfer1. All works fine..

Not everyone is happy with Adobe. I use Lightroom 3.6 but am forced to pay for LR4 to get RAW conversion compatibility for my latest camera. The thing is once Adobe releases the next version, support for earlier versions stops.

I thought I could convert to DNG first but, no, although DNG does indeed recognise the latest RAW format and will convert, LR3.6 can still detect the DNG conversion was from an unsupported file type!

I'm torn between upgrading or dumping Adobe altogether as regards an upgrade, keeping LR3.6 for my existing catalogues only. I'm presently trialling Zoner Photo Studio 15 which I find has a more logical interface and is working fine.

I just wonder how it differs from ACR. Anybody have it's difference from ACR in raw proceccing?

I'm going to wait for Golden Orangutang or even Lowland Yak before I move from NX2 to Adobe'$ software.

Apple is doing their best to force us into upgrading our OS to their "latest and greatest", and totally abandoning those of us who are happy with older Mac OS versions. I tried Lion when it came out and went right back to Snow Leopard (due to dropped internet connections). I can't upgrade to Aperture 3.4 unless I get Lion or Mountain Lion. Now I can't download Digital Camera RAW. Thanks, Apple, for leaving a lot of Mac and Aperture users out in the cold....

Quite annoying. Only for Mountain Lion. Yet, if I update from Snow Leopard, I lose compatibility with the SpectraView Calibrator, as Apple has not corrected that problem yet.

As others have said, where is the support for the Fuji X Pro? Get with the program Apple!
Now that third party makers such as Zeiss are making lenses for the system it is a good bet that they think it is here to stay, so get supporting it.

Finally D600 RAW support! I just downloaded the update and installed. If you have NEF files from D600 previously in your library, you have to right click and "reprocess originals" before you will see them. Newly imported NEFs are OK.
Sorry for the Fuji people. I've been waiting for D600 RAW support for several weeks, I can't imagine getting passed over by this update. C'mon Apple, Adobe is kicking your butt in the new camera RAW support race!

K-30 uses the universal dng format for its raw files so it has been compatible with Aperture since its release in July.

@vapentaxuser: The ability to process a raw file is not the same as the ability to convert colours accurately. The latter requires at least a sensor-specific profile as part of your workflow.

I have 500,000+ images on Aperture, but if Apple doesn't support the X-Trans by the end of the year I will ditch Aperture and go Lightroom.

I think Adobe just started to support it Oct 2. You can use Adobe DNG Converter 7.2 for free! I have a workstation and it converts it fast then import the image folder of all the DNG Raw files. And then you are ready to edit raw files. If you use Lightroom and import raw it will convert the files to DNG Raw by default. I have to do thing on the cheap, amateur photographer.

@bluevaping. Yet tried the solution to convert X-Trans RAF files to DNG then import in Aperture. Not viable... Aperture don't support linear DNG (bayer CFA demosaiced) so exotic CFA structure of X-Trans sensor is mantained and Aperture could not demosaic it.

Thanks for the heads up!

It seems unfortunate that, "Aperture version 3.4 or later, or iPhoto version 9.4 or later, is required to install this update" for folks (such as myself) who don't have those versions installed. Would be great to see this at an OS level (and ideally in 10.7.4).
