Casio Japan announces Exilim EX-ZR300 high-speed compact camera

I had the FH100 and liked it a lot, so two weeks ago I found a cheap ZR100 and since I needed a pocket camera to replace a Sony HX9 I decided to give it a try. What an extraordinary camera ! Much better than FH100
The multi shot zoom mode is amazing, art HDR fantastic, really usefull best shot modes with multi shot technology that enhances low light. Stabilization is not the best but the camera is so fast that multi shot compensates for it, but stabilization improvements would be welcome.
When used in M mode with the excellent flash it really shines, and along with the very fast focus produced easily some of the best macros of my 40 years of photography, It's also very good for portraits and photos are full of details of skin and hair. Low light high ISO could be better but since I always carry a Fuji X10 that's not a big issue for me, but that's the weak point, other than that , extraordinary. Flickr has wonderfull examples. I would like to buy the ZR300 but where in USA ?

I have a keen interest in Casio. I bought a new Exilim FH-20 on Amazon for about $250, and sold it less than a year later on eBay for about $430. Must have become a cult camera for sports shooters.

Just another compact superzoom?

I agree it would be nice to see a high quality large sensor compact, with just a bit more zoom range than the Canon S100.

If this Casio fires up, focusses and shoots quickly, it might just have one significant advantage.

It's disappoining that casio has given up on the high end american market. Once they had class leading cameras such as the EX-Z750/850, FH100, FX1. Today they flood the U.S. market with "me too" point and shoots and fashion accessories such as the tryx.

The ZR100 was pretty bad, but we never got try out the ZR200 and I doubt we will ever see the ZR300.

I've given up on casio (ZR750/850, P505, Z80, ZR100 owner) but I really wish someone would copy some of their features.

I love the past movie mode, also called prerecorded video, and have yet to find anything to replace it. Smugmug's camera app has tried to copy it, but I wish other vendors would too. It's the only reason I've purchased my last two casio's and put up with their shortcomings.

No so many improvements in ZR300 !!!! Only the slow speed is better (15 seconds and no 8 seconds like the ZR100). Or maybe the quality of the image above 800-1600 ISO. Whait and see !!!

It's only need to have FH100's JPEG and EX-z850 colors !!!

Casio once built the Exilim Z850, still one of the best compacts P&S. It had a bigger sensor than the 1/2,3 of today. Unfortunately, the electronic and mechanical build quality have not been so very superb, so most used cameras on the market are defective.

As far as IQ and in particular color rendition is concerned, it was just excellent. Superior not only to other compacts, but also to some higher level products, for example, the Panasonic Lumix L3 and L5.
This know how is still present in Casio.

I hope Casio will return to a somewhat bigger sensor size, and lower the pixel count.

whoopee as Casio has apparently exited the US market. EX-ZR200 never even made it here!

Not as high speed as some of their older cameras, but at least it has good battery life.

I would like to see Casio join micro 4/3rds group to offer a more compelling product line. Otherwise, it's WiFi enabled cameras and weather-resistant cameras, but others are pushing ahead there. Owner of a QV-4000!
