Olympus adds 75mm F1.8, 60mm F2.8 Macro and flash to Micro Four Thirds lineup

Alongside its E-M5 enthusiast-class mirrorless camera, Olympus has launched the M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm F1.8 and M.Zuiko Digital 60mm F2.8 Macro lens to its Micro Four Thirds lineup. It's also announced the FL-600R the latest in its range of wireless-compatible flashguns and its first to feature an LED continuous lamp for video work. The 75mm lens is a higher-end portrait lens than the existing 45mm F1.8 we rather like, and features the same solid build-quality as the premium 12mm F2.0. Meanwhile the 60mm Macro offers true 1:1 magnification and is weather-sealed to match the E-M5.

Panny 7mmzoom and the new Macro I think all that I need for travel and hiking with OM-D

Maybe the 75/1.8 will cause a drop in the fleabay price of the old (but very good) Olympus Pen 60/1.5.
(Another lens that I "need" really badly, but can't afford.)

But the 45mm F1.8 is very good portrait lens with pleasant bokeh!
It's important the minimum allowable distance too for better general use.

I noticed in a photo of the 60mm f2.8 lens posted elsewhere an interesting switch. On the left side of the lens barrel is a rotary switch with the following settings:

* 1/1
* 0.18 - 0.4 m
* 0.4 m - infinity
* 0.18 m - infinity

This rather obviously helps with autofocus be selecting the distance range to be checked :-)

That macro looks like it will be worth saving up for. I wonder if the little Macro LED light PEN accessory will reach the distance if you us it with this lens on the OM-D?

Dear Santa Clause,

Short time ago I asked you for some new lenses made by Sigma. Among thoes also a macro lens with f/2.8. Well, I asked for a 75mm. But 60mm Macro f/2,8 is also OK. In fact, it is more than that, it is a truly promising start. Also the 75mm f/1,8 is a great thing you've done.

Thank you, Santa, for making my wishes true so fast. Hopefully it will not be until christmas your gifts are available in Austria :-)

Is that a knob to hold the lens hood in place on the 75/1.8? Seems very clumsy if it is.

Also I had to laugh at the label "LENS HOOD". Do Olympus bodies have "BODY" written on them so owners know what they are?

Not as clumsy as the inverted bayonet lens hood that most other manufacturers (Nikon included) give...

Hoods labeled to re-unite proper hood to brand specific lens, and to reorder if damaged or lost.

Wow. That 60mm Macro will complete my classic prime lens kit:

wide - Oly 12 f/2.0 = 24mm
fast standard - Pany 20mm f/1.7 = 40mm
short tele - Oly 45 f/1.8 = 90mm
tele/macro - Oly 60 f/2.8 = 120mm plus macro

I already pre-ordered a silver Olympus OM-D E-M5 and will be using many of my Zuiko lenses with my MF-2 adapter till I can afford the four lenses above. Happy days are here again!

I hate this color scheme, some of your Oly lenses will be silver, whilst others black. The manufacturer will make that determination, okay folks?

These two are coming out by year's end at as of yet unspecified prices. Cool. Then again.... maybe not so much.

That 75/1.8 should make a killer portrait lens. Assuming you have enough shooting distance to work with.

So are these new lenses only going to be available in silver *or* black, depending on model, but not both (like the silver-only 45/1.8)? Considering the (questionable) color range of the PEN bodies, this just seens weird...

I love the idea of the Olympus OMD. The silver model is nice but I for the purposes of not wanting to stand out would go for the black and as such would like my lenses to be black... I notice that majority of prime lenses are silver. So this is a concern. I do hope that Olympus do give us consumers a choice as in black lenses.

At least the 12-50 mm zoom is available in both colors. And this has been the case before with several Olympus lenses, too.
I see your point (silver can reflect its color sometimes), but think it's nice to show the material of which the camera or lens is made of - metal (not plastic!).

43rumors: "Olympus Australia says the new 75mmf /1.8 and 60mm f/2.8 lenses will be available by end of the year."

The lens is probably about 3.5-4" long. That is not "big."

Maybe for it is an MSC lens with onboard focusing motor?
BTW I think this 75/1.8 will be about 60 mm x 70 mm (D x L).

There's something about µ4/3 that brings out the cranks and trolls, with camera people- more than any other system, I don't get it.

The Pentax K mount camera has an extra inch between the sensor and mount vs micro four thirds, so the same lens design on micro four thirds would need to be an inch longer.
