Casio Japan announces Exilim EX-ZR200 CMOS compact superzoom

By dpreview staff on Nov 16, 2011 at 19:08 GMT

Casio Japan has announced the Exilim EX-ZR200, a 16MP compact superzoom with a back-lit CMOS sensor. No details of a US or European launch have yet been given but, with its 24-300mm equivalent zoom lens and 30fps full resolution shooting and PASM modes, it's extremely likely it will replace the EX-ZR100. Like the ZR100, it can shoot 1080p30 movies with H.264 compression. It also features multi-image modes to capture ultra-wide angle shots and create background blur. (from DCWatch)

The older Casio FH100 is the ONLY camera out there which allows you to take action shots of yourself:

I really hope the new one has the "Move In Continuous Shot" mode again...

Gosh I hope this is better than the EX-ZR100.

I purchased the ZR100 hoping to revive the glory days of the EX-Z750/850 but could not stand it. Cheap build quality, horrible IQ. I saw how bad the IQ was in the dpreview tests but did not believe the tests and got it any way. +1 for dpreview and +1 for amazon's return policy!

Darn, that's too bad to hear about the ZR100. The Z750 was one of my favourite cameras for quite some time due to the combination of small size, mpeg-4 movie mode and audio recording. I haven't bought a Casio since then, though.

amen to that! i regret the day i sold my FH100 for a ZR100, FH100 worked flawlessly for the time i owned it and produced amazing shots for its size. the ZR100 on the other hand has horrible corners and the flash on mine died after only 6 months of use :( goes to show newer isn't always better. i suspect the new lens on the zr100 are to blame thou.

They make some surprising decent digital pianos, too. Not all, but a few models.
