Richard Franiec offers accessory grip for Canon S100

Accessory grip maker Richard Franiec has announced an add-on grip for the Canon PowerShot S100. The grip differs from his existing wrap-around designs to avoid blocking the port door on the side of the camera. Instead the raised, textured design mounts on the front plate of the camera, over its existing hand-grip. The accessory will be available from late November at a cost of $29.95, plus shipping.

I've installed Richard's grip on my S100. While, unlike the S90/95, Canon provided something of a grip on the S100, the Franiec grip for the S100 definitely improves grip security when shooting with the S100. The "waffle" texture on the grip adds to that security. Definitely a worthwhile addition to my new S100.

LOL! Those people accusing dpreview for showing favoritism toward Richard. These grips have been around forever, and they are talked about in many photo forums, here and all over the internet. It's about time he got a legit post on his products, which have been around for a long time now.

just a suggestion:

Make the grip in pink and they will sell like hot cakes.

It will look good on the black S100 plus it will give the camera a better WAF. (at $429 it needs all the WAF it can get!)

Me too. The camera should have been designed with this grip. It's a bar of soap otherwise, but that sadly is the current trend that we are stuck in with camera design - retro styling over sensible ergonomics.

The one for the S95 is nice as it looks fairly well integrated with the S95. The S100 really looks tacked on, and doesn't blend with the lines of the camera body like the previous grip.

is this the only grip available for any compact and did you present all other grips for all other compacts as well?

That grip for the S95 looks like it would have been really helpful. Once you learn how to hold it, I've found the built-in grip on the S100 to be great! I don't know why you'd want to clutter it up with that ugly thing that looks far less functional than the built-in or that s95 grip

I use Richard's grips on my Sigma DP1 and DP2X - they are brilliant, making the cameras so much easier to handle.
