Just Posted: Our review of the Nikon Coolpix P300. The P300 is interesting in the way it straddles camera classes - offering enthusiast camera features such as twin control dials and PASM shooting modes but built around a smaller sensor than its apparent peers. This smaller sensor and inability to record Raw files mark it out from the likes of the Canon S95 and Samsung's EX1 but, then again, so does its much more affordable price tag. So does this leave the P300 with the right balance of price and capability or leave it falling short of expectations? Read our concise review to find out...

http://www.dpreview.com/products/nikon/compacts/nikon_cpp300 claims that the P300 has Manual Focus. Well I've looked, read the CD manual and I can't find it. I think they're confusing it with manual shift of the autofocus point.

Not a bad pocket-sized camera though if you need something more creative than point-and -shoot. It's well featured and has a rugged build. IQ might not be the best but for the price it's quite acceptable. I bought one for when I'm not toting an SLR and I'm having fun with it.

The sample images I have seen seem to be very soft with excessive noise reduction. Probably good for small prints, but it scared me away from purchasing it. This camera seems to have all the features that I was looking for, but the most important, the IQ, is simply not up to par. :(
