Sigma to make lenses for NEX and Micro Four Thirds

CP+ 2011: Sigma has announced that it intends to make lenses for Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-mount (NEX) system cameras. In a brief statement on its website the company says that 'specifications, product names, pricing and launch schedules will be announced in due course'. A mockup lens will be displayed during the CP+ trade show that's currently being held in Yokohama, Japan.

The launch of new lenses for Micro Four Thirds and E-mount camera systems.

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the development of new lenses for Micro Four Thirds and E-mount camera system.

As demand for compact system cameras increase, we intend to meet the requirements of users and develop new lenses for these systems, utilizing our advanced interchangeable lens development technology.

Detailed information including specifications, product names, pricing and launch schedules will be announced in due course.

A mockup will be displayed at Sigma's booth during CP+, a camera and photo imaging show, held in Pacifico Yokohama Japan from February 9th, 2011.

Well its been about 7 months since this press release. Whats going on now, is there any news when these lenses will be available?. God i hope they offer a super wide zoom, maybe the 8-16mm

I agree, a more reasonably priced ultrawide and portrait primes are what this system needs. I wonder whats taking them so long.
