The model will be released as part of Canon’s continued development of its EF lens line-up, offering enhanced performance and improved functions that cater for the needs of photographers from beginners through to professionals.

Since its presentation I've been trying to book and buy one without success. Last thing I've been told (today) by Canon-Spain, is that this lens is not going to be sold in my country.

Is it only a prototype or does anyone know where to buy it from? I really need it and I will appreciate any information about.

Thanks,
Michel

Michel, Did you find anywhere that has this lens? I'm also looking and calling Canon USA. They will not release the info. They say it will be likely announced in Jan. '13 at an event.
Thanks for any info. Seems like there should be some out there.

Unfortunately not and check out what Bob Atkins said: "(...) 'when' and 'how much' are anyone's guess at this point (...)". I'm daily diving in the net and asking to the best professional shops in my country just in case... And believe me, I'll post here first whatever I found about this ghost lens.

Here it is! WOW! What a lens! I wonder why Canon took so long to decide on building this lens! Too bad it's still not available. Great lens, great performance, great size. The built in 1.4x converter is the ice on top of the cake!

Did you get to see it? Where did you see it at if you did? I'm searching for one, but nothing so far. I tried to call the Japan manufacturing plant from U.S. I could not get through. Anyone in Japan who knows more info, please share it.

It's still uncertain, the tsunami delayed the launch of all the new IS2 telephotos let alone a concept one ! A non working dummy of the lens was on display here in NZ during the rugby world cup.
