Bibble Labs releases Bibble 5.2

Bibble Labs has announced version 5.2 of its RAW workflow software. This is the final version of the update posted as a 'release candidate' in December, and is now available for immediate download. The latest version provides RAW support to fourteen additional cameras including the Nikon D7000/D3100, Panasonic DMC-GF2, Pentax K-5 and Olympus E-PL2. Both the Pro and Lite versions of Bibble 5.2 also include improvements and bug fixes.

Bibble 5.2 Pro & Lite Now Available

Major Selective Editing Improvements, Support for 14 New Camera RAW Formats & Much More

Austin, Tx, January 20th, 2011: Bibble Labs, Inc. is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Bibble 5.2 Pro and Bibble 5.2 Lite. This free update for all current Bibble 5 customers adds support for 14 new RAW formats, including Nikon D3100, D7000, P7000 and Panasonic LX5, GF2 and GH2, and includes significant improvements to Bibble 5's already powerful Selective Editing capability, and many other enhancements.

"We've been hard at work since we launched Bibble 5.1 in June," says Jeff Stephens, President of Bibble Labs, Inc., "and we're thrilled to again be able to provide a free update to all our Bibble 5 customers with so many improvements."

Major Selective Editing Improvements
Bibble 5's Selective Editing framework receives several major enhancements in this version, starting with the addition of Copy & Paste for Layers and Regions. This allows photographers to make selective adjustments on one image, and then apply those same selective edits on many similar images in an instant. Further, layer opacity is now adjustable, allowing photographers to quickly adjust the strength of many adjustments on a single layer with a single slider.

Likewise, individual regions can now remove, instead of add, areas to adjustment layers. This allows a finer level of adjustment and control over selective editing in Bibble 5. Lastly, regions have been updated to transform and adjust along with geometric changes made to an image - like straightening, cropping, or perspective distortion. Bibble 5.2 Lite also increases the number of Heal & Clone regions that can be applied on a single image, from 3 to 20 regions.

Broad RAW File Support, with 14 New Models
Bibble 5.2 adds support for 14 new RAW formats, including Nikon D3100, D7000, P7000, Canon S95, G12, Panasonic LX5, GH2, GF2, Pentax K-5, K-r, Olympus E-5, E-PL1s, E-PL2 and the Ricoh GXR P10. This is the sixth update that expands RAW file support since Bibble 5 was released just over one year ago, bringing the total number of RAW formats supported to 200. Many Other Areas of Improvement
"We are always looking for ways to speed our customers' total workflow, and Bibble 5.2 offers many significant workflow enhancements to do just that" says Stephens. Copy Sets is one such feature, allowing photographers to assign editable hotkeys to one or many adjustment or metadata settings. Pressing this hotkey combination copies only those settings from the selected image - allowing photographers to very quickly paste only IPTC data, or only noise reduction settings, or any other groups of setting.

The Preferences window in Bibble 5 also gained functionality by offering several new Preferences Panels to allow photographers to tune Bibble 5 even more to match how they want to work. With new panels for Copy Sets, Default Settings, and Crop Presets, photographers now have more ways than ever to customize Bibble to match their workflow.

Many other smaller enhancements are also included that optimize and speed workflow with Bibble 5. Creating a new version automatically selects the new version, and deleting a version will automatically select the Master version. Clicking anywhere on a closed tool panel will open that panel, and dragging thumbnails to a tab on one of these panels will switch to that tab automatically. Automatic lens identification has been improved for many Nikon bodies.

Bibble 5.2 also resolves many issues found in previous versions of Bibble 5, and brings substantial stability improvements to many of our customers. And, Bibble Labs has further improved their RAW plugin SDK, allowing plugin developers even more control and flexibility. New in Bibble 5.2, plugins can now make geometric changes like perspective correction and can increase or change the overall image size. This allows new kinds of plugins, like matting plugins that add a border outside a photo, and much more. "Individually, these are all small changes," Stephens continues, "but together these and many other refinements, large and small, make Bibble 5.2 the best update we've provided."
