If anyone is trying to update the firmware to the new firmware that can be downloaded from the Samsung site I finally figured it out. This is for a ST65 model. Not responsible for any damages or bricking this may cause, use these steps at your own risk, ymmv...

***ENSURE TO HAVE A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY***

1. Download the firmware
2. Move the fpupdate.dat file to your camera's sdcard root directory
3. Hold the power button and FN button at the same time to bring you to the firmware menu screen
4. Follow the LCD Screen Instructions
5. Camera should take about a minute to complete the process and will shut off after it has finished flashing the firmware.
6. Enjoy your updated camera.

No idea what the update fixes at all but I saw the download and have been wanting to update the camera for the longest time and there are no instructions. Hope this can help out others.

I have returned the muddy Olympus SZ-30MR and picked up a Tamron 18-270 PZD for my faithful which is still producing much better photos than latest compacts. As a pocket camera, I picked an ST65 for $88 on discount. What a surprise! This little camera is producing better photos than much more expensive SZ-30MR that promises lots of bells and whistles but photos. Although the display is low-res, the photos look sharp with beautiful colors. If you're looking for a budget pocket camera you can trust, I can sincerely recommend ST65.
