Compact camera’s ultra-zoom leaves competition in its tracks
Hamburg, 2 February 2010 –Scaling new heights in the compact market, Olympus proudly presents the latest from their ultra-zoom camera series. Equipped with a staggering 30x wide optical zoom covering a 28-840mm* focal length, the 14 Megapixel SP-800UZ makes other contenders pale in comparison. The 3” LCD displays in 16:9 format, which makes sharing the fruits of your labour with friends even more enjoyable. Little sister SP-600UZ also has built-in Dual Image Stabilisation, rendering clean, sharp images. The new [ib] software allows you to effortlessly tag your photos while browsing your albums gets simpler with Photo Surfing. Making it easy to shoot and easy to share the Olympus SP-800UZ and SP-600UZ are available in Titanium Silver from March 2010 for a retail price of £369.99 and £259.99 respectively.
The new features of the most powerful ultra-zoom compact, the SP-800UZ, offer ultimate versatility for innovative photography, but without the inconvenience of heavy duty equipment:
Easier to shoot
Experience the action as though you were ringside with the groundbreaking 30x wide optical zoom (28-840mm*). Outclassing all pretenders to the point-and-shoot zoom title, the SP-800UZ makes sure you always have a front row seat. The built-in Dual Image Stabilisation of the 14 Megapixel camera guarantees defined image clarity, and high-speed shooting at up to 10fps means you’ll document the action blow by blow. But why not record the whole event using the new HD movie option? A heavyweight internal memory of 2GB means you can store plenty of videos and images, and an SD card slot enables further storage capacity. Check your shots on the new 3” LCD in wide 16:9 format.
And if you need help or simply want to investigate your creative options, just consult the In-Camera Manual – with the new scroll dial, you can adjust your camera’s functions more intuitively. A handy USB port facilitates battery recharging.
Little sister SP-600UZ also packs a punch with a 15x optical wide zoom (28-420mm*), 2.7” LCD and 1GB internal memory and SD slot. The
12 Megapixel edition shares most of the family traits, including Dual Image Stabilisation, HD movie capability and HDMI technology.
Easier to share
The SP-800UZ and SP-600UZ truly bridge the gap between taking and sharing photos. When it’s time to admire your handiwork or show off to friends, explore your archive using the new Photo Surfing tool. Thanks to [ib] software, people in your photos (using face recognition technology), places (using GPS technology), and events can be tagged automatically. You can even surf from one picture to the next in high definition quality on HDMI compatible HDTVs.
The sheer variety of SP series features lets you take your very best shots, for example AF Tracking follows your subject even when in motion, and i-Auto identifies your shooting environment, automatically adjusting your camera settings. Available from March 2010, the Olympus SP-800UZ and SP-600UZ offer all you need for ambitious shoot and share photography.
