Sony α700 firmware v3

By dpreview staff on Dec 28, 2007 at 13:19 GMT

Sony's α700 DSLR recently received its second firmware update, version 3. This release fixes a couple of bugs - the camera was occasionally prone to locking up when shooting a burst of images and would sometimes carry over settings made in Memory Recall (MR) mode when shutting down the camera. Any users who missed firmware 2 may install this update directly as it includes the earlier fixes. Download link after the jump.

Benefits over firmware version 2:

  • Resolves an issue where the Access Lamp remains lit and the camera stops responding when several pictures are taken in rapid succession.
  • Resolves an issue where powering the camera off while in "MR" mode may cause some registered settings to carry over to other shooting modes
