The second metal bodied compact Nikon with an image stabilized lens is the S700. Get ready to be a little bit afraid because this camera packs twelve megapixels behind its three times optical zoom lens (F2.8 - F5.4). Naturally like all the cameras today the S700 gets 'EXPEED', lets hope it has an effective noise reduction algorithm. The S700 will cost £279.99 and will be available from 'Autumn 2007'.

Nikon is pleased to announce the introduction of the COOLPIX S700. Blending elegant design and quality construction with advanced features and high performance, the COOLPIX S700 is as satisfying to carry as it is to shoot beautiful images. Built on a custom application of Nikon's innovative EXPEED digital image processing concept and incorporating the precision optics of a NIKKOR lens, the COOLPIX S700 is built to realise optimum performance and maximum image quality.
The COOLPIX S700 delivers photographic performance that exceeds expectations of the smallest body among competing compact digital cameras*. Imaging power begins with a full 12.1 effective megapixels of sharp resolution from the new 1/1.72-inch CCD image sensor and precision optics of a 3x Zoom-NIKKOR lens. Completing the set is a new digital image processing engine that not only delivers the high performance to reproduce these high-resolution images with clarity and true-to-life colour, but also to realise delightfully fast camera response.
The stylish contours and fine finish of the aluminum body reflects a true high performance camera. The COOLPIX S700 powers up within 0.9 seconds and its practically imperceptible shutter release time lag is 0.005 seconds or less.
Quality operation and controls receive as much attention. The 2.7-inch LCD monitor offers a bright and large image, even when out in the sun. The surrounding large control buttons and the user-friendly rotary multi selector are carefully positioned to provide intuitive operation.
*Among competing models with 10 effective megapixels or higher as of August 30, 2007 (according to research conducted by NIKON CORPORATION).
Note: Specifications, design, product name, standard accessories, and release schedule may differ by country or area.

VR image stabilization for crisper results
Image sensor shift VR (Vibration Reduction) lets the COOLPIX S700 detect camera movement, make precise automatic adjustments to compensate by moving the image sensor, and thereby help overcome the effects of camera shake and produce satisfyingly sharp images, while also contributing to a reassuring shooting experience.
ISO 3200 capability
Light sensitivity can be manually set as high as ISO 3200*. In High-Sensitivity mode, ISO control automatically selects the optimal sensitivity setting for the shot across a range up to ISO 1600.
Large 2.7-inch LCD monitor for quality viewing and menu operation
Almost defying the compact body proportions of the COOLPIX S700 is a high quality 2.7-inch LCD monitor. Features include 230,000 dots of high resolution, a wide viewing angle of 160 degrees, anti-reflection coating for better display in bright situations, and a new acrylic panel that prevents scratches and fingerprints.
*ISO 3200 is available only for image sizes of 5M(2592 x 1944) or smaller
