Fujifilm FinePix F440 and F450 Zoom

Fujifilm has today announced the FinePix F440 and F450 Zoom. These two ultra-compact cameras are successors to the popular F410 and F420 Zoom. Perhaps the most interesting element of this announcement is that just like the FinePix A330 and A340 (announced just before PMA) the F440 and F450 feature standard CCD sensors of four and five megapixels respectively. This means that out of the eight new cameras announced by Fujifilm this year five of them are based around standard CCD sensors rather than Fujifilm's own SuperCCD. Both cameras have 3.4x optical zoom lenses, are powered by a Lithium-Ion battery, store images on xD-Picture Card and 2.0" LCD monitors.

new standards in compact camera design

Four and five megapixel resolution and 3.4x optical zoom set a new standard in ultra-compact housing

Fujifilm today announced the FinePix F440 Zoom and FinePix F450 Zoom: five and four megapixel resolutions, with a 3.4 times optical zoom, two inch LCD screen, and housed in a design so small that it can be hidden behind a single Post-It® Note.

Borrowing the good looks of their predecessors - the popular FinePix F410 and F420 Zoom - the trim figures of these new models are possible thanks to a newly developed lens structure. The clever lens design makes these cameras' enviable vital statistics achievable (W 74.5 x H 62.3 x D 21.3 mm and a body weight of just 150g).

Although weighing no more than a mobile handset, the FinePix F440 Zoom and FinePix F450 Zoom are big where it counts - boasting 2" LCD screens, fast F2.8 lenses and enough megapixels to allow images to be printed as enlargements without loss of quality.

Furthermore, the brushed metal casing and eye-catching, cool, blue lights will please those who feel aesthetic appeal is as critical as image quality.

Not just a pretty face, the FinePix F440 Zoom and F450 Zoom are capable of ISO 80, enabling enhanced quality images in bright conditions.

A new lithium rechargeable battery gives the cameras stamina, while technology advancements mean their power consumption has been reduced even further. Both models come complete with a PictureCradle, making recharging and downloading both easy and convenient. PictBridge™ compatibility also allows printing at home without the need for a PC or Mac.

Availability & pricing

The FinePix F440 and F450 Zoom will be available in the UK from retailers in August 2004. Stockists to be confirmed. Pricing will be announced nearer to the date of retail launch.
