Memory Stick Pro for new devices?

CNET's
News.Com is currently running an article in which they hint that a new
Memory Stick standard called 'Memory Stick Pro' will be announced at CES
next month. This new standard is supposed to be based on a totally new
architecture which will not only increase capacity (256 MB, 512 MB and
1 GB) but also improve performance (write speed). Sony are at this stage
not commenting although it's expected that the new Memory Stick Pro cards
will not work in existing Sony digital cameras, this could indeed be bad
news for current owners. This news seems to be confirmed by the fact that
Sony has removed the Memory Stick roadmap from the memorystick.org page,
replaced with the notice "Sorry, Road map is now updating..."
