Nikon has today announced the new four megapixel Coopix 4300. This new digital camera is based on the popular Coolpix 885 but has been upgraded with a four megapixel sensor. A quick glance down the features and specifications and this camera appears to be operationally identical to the 885. Just like the Coolpix 885 the 4300 will appear in both black (North America) and silver (rest of the wolrd) bodies.

Press Relase (Nikon Europe):
Three is Good, Four is Better.
It is not often that something can get one third better, yet stay the same size. Digital cameras, it seems are different and Nikon have proved the point with the Coolpix announced today as a four million pixel update to the sell-out three million Coolpix 885.
For the few members of the public who are not familiar with the famous names in photography, the Nikon Coolpix 4300 is a compact, solid-looking digital camera with a purposeful large-diameter zoom lens. For those familiar with the Nikon brand, the Coolpix 4300 offers assured image quality through the 3x zoom Nikkor optics and the same digital works that has made professional Nikons the choice of the world's press. This heritage means easy operation rather than complexity and even novices will find the controls intuitive. An Auto mode provides point and shoot for the digital beginner or simply when time is limited. For the more adventurous, a total of 12 scene modes set up the camera for specific photographic occasions such as beach/snow, sunset, close up and portrait.
As might be expected from a Nikon there's ample opportunity to take things further with control over aperture and shutter, and of course a host of "digital only" features such as Best Shot Selector for reducing camera shake, controllable white balance to take into account different lighting and a noise reduction system for exceptionally clear long-exposure shots at night. The bright clear monitor screen serves as a complement to the optical viewfinder and also delivers instant review of results.
The Coolpix 4300 is delivered with Nikon's own camera software that transfers all images to a computer with just one button press and then turns the computer into a photo album at home or, on the web with Nikon Fotoshare. For ultimate convenience, the Coolpix 4300 also includes rechargeable battery and charger as standard.
Aimed at the discerning digital buyer the Coolpix 4300 brings the benefits of digital supported by the security of the Nikon name and allows novice and expert alike to enjoy digital pictures and picture-taking.

to give you sharp, vivid images in living color - from breathtaking open
landscapes to fabulous close-up photography.

Landscape, Sunset and Party/Indoor, letting you easily turn great scenes
into memorable photographs. There's also Manual mode, which gives you
