Yamada repots that Minolta sprung a surprise with the sudden (unsuspected) announcement of the 2300, a 2.3 megapixel model. That it's price is very low at US$499 for a 2.3 megapixel digicam.
It has a 1.4x and 2x digital zoom (which kinda suggests it's a fixed lens) and a body weight of just 200g, dimensions are 114 x 35 x 65 mm. It has a 1.8" LCD and is capabale of shooting 2 scenes per second.

Fuji introduce this new 1.3 megapixel 3x zoom lens. The size is comparatively compact and priced at a low US$499. Yamada sees this model as a strategic move by Fuji against the over popular Olympus D-450Z range...

This new camera from Toshiba brings them up to the 3.34 megapixel level with a 3x optical zoom, priced at around US$1,000. The optics similar to that found on the Olympus C-3030Z (in size / diameter), processing is fast. The M60 was also on show, a 2.3 megapixel 3x optical zoom, priced at around US$700.
