New Coolpix 800 Firmware Shows Up

By dpreview staff on Jan 22, 2000 at 04:00 GMT

Scanning over the NikonTech Japan website I noticed they've just posted a firmware update for the Coolpix 800 (Firmware v1.1), now obviously I don't condone downloading this unless you own a Japan Coolpix 800. Fixes include (translated from the Japanese): Improved white balance in AE-Lock mode, maintains white balance setting after power-off, performance improvement.

Owners of NTSC Japanese Nikon Coolpix 800 can download

Owners of PAL Europe / SE-Asia Nikon Coolpix 800 can download

UPDATE: NikonTech USA have posted that the USA version will be available this Monday, 24th January.

There are rumours that previous releases of Japanese Firmware for Nikon digicams was byte-for-byte identical to that later posted on the NikonTech USA websites... well I couldn't possibly comment, obviously.
