Canon have announced in a press release that the S10 will be shipping to US dealers around October 15 to make the S10 available for the holiday season. The best news? The estimated street price of $699.
Canon U.S.A., Inc., a world leader in optical and digital imaging technology, today confirmed the estimated street price (ESP) of the much-anticipated Canon PowerShot S10 2.1 megapixel digital camera at $699. Initial U.S. dealer shipments are scheduled to begin on Friday, October 15, 1999, reaching stores in time for the holiday shopping season. ``Announced on August 27th of this year, the PowerShot S10's high performance
``Announced on August 27th of this year, the PowerShot S10's high performance and ease of use has already created tremendous excitement in the digital camera market,'' said Yukiaki Hashimoto, vice president and general manager, Photographic Products Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. ``In addition to the S10's superior features, its competitive price will make the camera even more attractive to consumers.''
Lightweight and ultra-compact in size, the S10 features 2.1 megapixel resolution, high-quality all-glass aspherical 2X Canon zoom lens, robust metal construction, high-capacity CompactFlash Type I & II compatibility -- including the IBM 340MB microdrive -- and a high-speed plug-and-play USB interface.
Also available beginning October 15, the new Canon Digital Printer CD-300 will also carry a competitive ESP of $499. Offered at the same price point as its successor, the CD-200, the CD-300 incorporates a number of enhancements that improve speed, performance and image quality. The new design equips the CD-300 with front loading capabilities for the easy insertion of paper and ink cassettes and prints photo-quality, borderless 4x6-inch prints at a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch), compared to the 144 dpi obtained with the CD-200.
