CES 2006: Fujifilm has today announced the new five megapixel, 3.4x optical zoom FinePix V10. This new pocketable camera features a huge 3.0" LCD monitor and a SuperCCD HR sensor which provies shooting sensitivities of ISO 64 for the highest quality and up to ISO 1600 for low light situations. The 'unique selling point' for the V10 however will be its three built-in games, although I doubt it will be challenging the Sony PSP in this respect.

Life’s full of fun and games with the FinePix V10 Zoom

Fujifilm today announces the launch of the FinePix V10 Zoom, a next-generation digital compact camera with distinctive looks and an extra dose of fun. Available in a stylish, two-tone design and with a distinctive body, the FinePix V10 Zoom features an enormous three inch LCD screen, whilst remaining remarkably small in size.

The three inch screen is designed to enhance the experience of shooting and viewing photos. With approximately 230,000 pixels, the high resolution LCD is perfect for instant framing during shooting and easy viewing of images during playback. A convenient zoom display has been added to confirm focus and image details as you shoot, by enlarging the centre of the focus position.

The FinePix V10 Zoom combines all this with lightning quick response times of just 0.01 second shutter lag and a 1.5 second start-up, making it an incredibly efficient, user-friendly device.

The camera boasts a 5.1 million pixel Super CCD HR sensor and 3.4x optical zoom (F2.8 - F5.5), equivalent to 38 - 130mm on a traditional camera.  Crucially, it also includes Fujifilm’s Real Photo Technology™, giving class-leading sensitivity of ISO 1600 for photography in low light conditions, and a low sensitivity setting of ISO 64 for ultra high-quality photography in bright daylight.

On a long journey, for example, you may find there’s nothing to photograph for a while: this is where the FinePix V10 Zoom comes alive in the form of some surprisingly addictive retro arcade-style games.  These include a shooting game, blockbuster and a maze puzzle, which have been built into the camera itself. ‘Playability’ is enhanced by the layout of the camera’s controls, which are positioned in a manner similar to a portable gaming device for easy handling. Captured images can also be incorporated into the games, for a personal touch!

This sociable camera includes a 30-frame playback mode, similar to an alternative slide show, so groups of photos on the large screen can be shared with friends on the spot. For the first time with a FinePix camera, it also comes with a tutorial xD-Picture Card™ that conveniently demonstrates its range of functions.

A new shooting mode, ‘Natural Light & with Flash’, captures two images in quick succession, with and without flash so that the user can make an on-the-spot comparison of the images.   This feature is perfect for awkward photographic conditions when it’s difficult to judge whether flash is needed or not.  Super CCD Real Photo Technology is the key to enabling the camera to give you such a choice, even in low light conditions.
