Press Release (Olympus UK):
The Worlds Smallest 10x Zoom Camera -
The Olympus C-765 Ultra Zoom
Designed for sporting events, travel, nature hikes or any occasion where
a more detailed view is necessary, the new C-765 Ultra Zoom model, is
the smallest digital camera in the world featuring an optical 10x zoom.
Weighing a mere 280g, the new Olympus Ultra Zoom is more than just a digital
camera it has a Movie Mode, enabling you to capture video with sound as
well. Available from May 2004, the RRP is £399.99 [inc VAT]. For
stockist information call 0800 072 0070 or go to www.olympus.co.uk.
The camera is light-weight, easy-to-handle and perfect for capturing
shots from a distance. However this 4.0 million pixel model is equally
practical for shooting subjects in extreme close-up, as the Super Macro
mode lets you shoot from just 3cm away.
Outstanding results are guaranteed through the first class optical system
and optimised image processor, TruePic Turbo, which boosts both image
quality and image processing capabilities even further.
The very bright (f2.8 3.7) optical system of the C-765 Ultra Zoom
comprises eleven elements arranged in seven groups and includes two aspherical
lenses to reduce distortion as well as an ED element. This is normally
only found in pro-level SLR cameras and significantly helps reduce chromatic
aberration.
The new C-765 Ultra Zoom model is versatile enough to match every photographers
demands. In auto mode, it offers point-and-shoot simplicity for flawless
picture taking. For those times when creativity is desired, the aperture
priority, shutter priority or full manual settings allow greater control.
The optimised electronic viewfinder unlike many optical viewfinders
enables precise framing of the shot. Also you dont have to
take your eye from the subject when shooting as all activated settings
are displayed in the electronic viewfinder. The USB 2.0 AutoConnect interface
also ensures that file transfer to the computer is now even quicker.
