StudioAvenue closes its doors
Saturday, 16 February 2002  04:00 GMT

StudioAvenue, the online photo sharing company owned by JASC, of Paint Shop Pro fame, has shut the doors as of yesterday. This may not be one of the major sites and so perhaps not a news story, except that StudioAvenue is just a rebranding of PhotoLoft, the first of the sites to move to a subscription based service last March. They say "That means any photos left on StudioAvenue.com after February 15, 2002 will be deleted", and should be "uploaded to another photo-sharing site (such as Ofoto, Snapfish, or Shutterfly)". This will undoubtedly be a loss in revenue for PhotoLoft, and in less than a month they will be asking their members to renew their yearly subscriptions.
