Disclaimer: Remember, all of these samples are taken using a beta model camera and as such may not yet accurately reflect the final output of the camera. Phil: I have to say these samples are impressive, I've only had a quick glance over them but so far things look good, especially for a beta camera. Looking at the resolution charts the D1X is delivering almost 2000 lp/h in the horizontal direction and around 1300 lp/h in the vertical direction, which is about what we'd expected based on its CCD design. I don't think anyone could question the D1X's resolution, Nikon really have pulled it off, the resolution is there, the detail is there and colour is better than the original D1, in MOST images there's absolutely no hint of the D1X's unusual CCD layout. Some rectangular pixels
I had to grab this one which was a 10 second exposure at ISO 125, here's it clear to see that noisey "hot pixels" taken on a rectangular shape, this is the clearest example yet of the D1X's rectanglular pixel CCD (twice the horizontal resolution).
