It would still be helpful to know what you have, as there is no reason why some or all of it could not be a part of this so-called dream kit.

"In our view the Lumix G6 is the best overall compact system camera that Panasonic have yet released"

Argument about SLT vs. mirrorless aside, the OP specifically stated he does not anything as large as a DSLR. So it seems pointless to recommend the A57, don't you think? It is not the camera for...

You might look at the Fujifilm X20, which has an optical viewfinder with exposure info.
You might also consider one of the smaller compact interchangeable lens cameras such as the Sony NEX-6,...

As you have pretty much described the Canon G15, I think you should get that one, even if its price seems silly to you in comparison to a DSLR.
The newly announced Panasonic LF1 might also be a...

Yes, there is a way. Light the scene more.

Just to set the record straight, and also so you won't confuse anyone, you are not increasing the aperture, you are decreasing it. f/22 is a smaller aperture.
When you use a smaller aperture, you...

Similar cameras are the Fujifilm HS50EXR, the Nikon P520, the Panasonic FZ200, and the Sony HX300. They don't have identical bells and whistles, but they certainly have more than you'll ever likely...

You have a zoom lens...it can zoom from 18 to 55mm. But what you want is a telephoto zoom lens. A good choice would be the EF-S 55-250mm IS ll. It will work well in most instances; for school plays...

Honestly, I don't think either camera is the right choice. IMO you should probably stick with the DSLR, and perhaps get an appropriate lens (since you seem to be interested in isolating the...

The question for Sony is, would it attract enough customers to justify the cost of tooling up and producing such a camera?

FWIW, even though I don't believe there is a difference in quality, I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting a MIJ unit. Even some Japanese want to see MIJ. I know at least one smaller...

BTW, it's not just the length that is a consideration. A bigger sensor also needs a wider lens.

What evidence do you have that the assembly of HX5V was shut down in China? How do you know that the MIJ example was manufactured at a later date, and not just old stock? Maybe too Sony needed both...
