I sent my 17-35mm f2.8 in for a rebuild about 2 years back. The lens came back within a week, in perfect working order. Couldn't praise them enough.

I use a programme called "rename4you" by kellysoftware. www.kellysoftware.com.
It's free and once you use it, it's amazing what you can do with it.

Get her a Canon G15. I have a G10 and it is BRILLIANT. Compact but will hold its own against almost all of the opposition. Alternatively get her a Canon SX50HS

24 - 120 f4 for me. extremely versatile, not too heavy and fast enough to use indoors with no flash

You should be able to adjust the aperture using the camera controls as I suspect you are trying to use it in "aperture priority" mode. If you set the camera to "shutter priority" you should be ok...

I would like to see them with the falls "frozen". I am not one for slkow shutter speeds on subjects such as this. But, nice all the same.
