Do a search for Jim's (jmknights) posts and user details. His main thing is drag racing photography.

Have to wonder if some of them thought, "Oh hell, it's too close!" with such long lenses, compared to the shots you got with the FF 400mm. Of course if they can afford the 600's they probably had...

Sure, nobody agrees with you so they must all be wrong...

Highlight recovery is what you need. Viewing Bryan Adams face the area that was fully lit by the spotlight is blown out, completely white, and the area between there and the part of the face in...

I was wondering what was going on there - knowing what a great job you normally do. Something screwey indeed!...

Some pretty funny replies here but did you shoot RAW? If not then I'd recommend it for the future, as it can do a lot to recover highlights in these situations.

I doubt I could do much better than you have combining the 2 exposures, but the main problem I see is that both shots seem to have been focused on the background, so your daughter still appears out...

I expect it was more to do with familiarity with J&R (which not only pros frequent) and google map search skills...

Any brownstone style apartment buildings anyway.

I got my A77 in the Town Center store in January (after my A700 aperture control mechanism died while I was at Green Cay). The girl who served me at the time was very helpful. She admitted she...

The 3rd one is really special - great light, subjects, composition, mood, etc.

Also, on the back of the lens you'll see a small lever sticking out. You can use a key or something to gently move the lever across the slot that it sticks out of. Make sure when you release it...

Post another photo of yourself with your mouth closed and someone may be able to use it to fix the one you posted for you.

And I've used one for years and find the CA very manageable in all but the most extreme shooting conditions. It's natural to encounter some sample variations with a 20+ year old lens, and I think...

Nice 1930's Auburn Boattail Speedster in case anyone's curious. Clark Gable had one (given to him as a birthday gift) among others.

The first 2 are cool - they really show the scale of the place and the creatures within.

My A77, bought new from Sony Style in January, had firmware v1.03 loaded. The current firmware is v1.07. If you have anything prior to v1.04 then make sure you update it before the games, as 1.04...

Wonderful sky, fascinating rock pool network, great detail etc. Another superb effort. In fact the only thing I don't like is the large black border you added above and below.

The ND filters and the longer exposure achieved blurred the water. The ND Grad was likely used to enable the foreground (water, pier) to be brightened, so they wouldn't appear dark relative to the...

Great composition, colours, dramatic sky, very well seen and executed.
