Lately I like to travel with 35/2 IS and 200/2.8, and of course S95 in hand when snapping candids!
-
If I could only have 2 lenses for my 5D2, I think they could be Canons 35/2 IS and 200/2.8. I have a Kenko 1.4x to get a bit more out of each.
-
Just in time! I was almost ready to pounce on an used 2nd S95, but the battery charger and spare battery I left on a cruise ship was recovered. Now I'll just use-up the S95 for lousy conditions and...

Holy smokes, didn't realize the SD700 uses the NB-5L. I might be looking at the S110!
-
Really, what has me considering a 2nd (pretty but used) S95 is the stupid battery. If the S110 had the same NB-6L, I might be looking there. As eluded by AdamT, I see these Canon p&s cameras as...

Yeah, I didn't take to a HV20(?), a top rated Sony camcorder at the time, but mainly because of the DATs. I seem to recall not liking the menus and operation. I really dislike working with Nikon...

I've grown to like my S95 quite a bit, but I've beaten the camera with some terrible conditions like poor weather and construction sites. I actually prefer the 28 wide, which sometimes is too wide...

I like the 20 f/2.8 on XTi when taking pictures up close (good colors, quite sharp), but didn't care for it for distance or landscape. Now with 5D2, sort of wish I had the lens to try that...

Hmm.. I see it, but I think Santa is committed to my favorite B&H. No rush really..
-
I think Santa pre-ordered a Canon 35 f/2 IS for me.. sure hope! I like the idea of 35 f/1.4 lenses but haven't like the price and/or weight. The Canon looks like a winner.
-
I have my eye on the Canon 35/2 IS. I like the focal length on full frame, and I think it might work well for video as well.

My S95 is flat. Tried Vivid but didn't like the reds, so use Positive film to punch up the blues and greens. Sometimes use custom to up everything but reds. The SD700 and SD850 did a MUCH better...

Wow about the corners, did hear the 40 was sharp across the lens. But the 35 seems brighter at f/2.8, then about the same in most respects at f/5.6. It would seem the pros & cons come out about...
-
I'm reasonably pleased with my S95. Maybe the S105 will be interesting enough to warrant a L@@K!
-
The 40/2.8 sure was tempting, but I think on FF I will stick with my 35/50 lightweight walkabout combo. I'd mostly rely on the 35/2 which is quicker, wider, closer for macro and not much heavier....
-
Well, well.. maybe I will stick with 50/1.4, 35/2 for walk around and 200/2.8 for closeups. The 40 is still tempting for size, but 35/2 is no heavy weight AND I get the extra...

You photos are good & compelling. I also have the 5D2 and have tried 35/2, 50/1.8 and 50/1.4 with varying degrees of success. I like the 35 for a bit more width and light weight, but the AF on the...
