@ chouster - your statement even contradicts DXO's findings... where apparently the D5200 is the "best APS-C DSLR" ... but Nikon's probably got DXO on their payroll...

So it would be safe to assume Sony is light years ahead of Canon in sensor design... best solution lets stop buying Canon cameras... :)

Very impressive noise performance... clearly leaps & bounds ahead of the 60D / T5i ... JPEG definitely looks cleaner than the D7100 ... albeit ever so slightly softer... D7100 image looks speckled...

And exactly how do they carry out this analysis of the demosaiced RAW files...? By applying their in-house reconstructive interpolation algorithms...? Or do they strip the sensor of its internal...

@ Shunda77 - The D5100 / D7000 may outclass Canon's previous generation 18 MP sensors - but there's no way that can be said for Canon's new 20 MP sensor...

DXO might serve as the holly grail for the average Nikon fan... but their "supposed tests" hardly serve as any meaningful purpose in determining which camera / brand is the best from an overall...

I was actually comparing the RAW samples here on Dpreview, plus imaging resource & ephotozine - The later two especially show that the 70D has a clear advantage in high ISO image quality.

Quite frankly the image quality is one step short of horrible... even a point & shoot like Sony's WX 60 / 80 which utilizes a 16 MP sensor is miles ahead in terms of IQ and noise control...

Probably 85% ... after all everyone, wants to keep it competitive with its arch enemy the D7100 ... :)

Looks as good as the D7100... perhaps even slightly better in RAW... a contentious point nevertheless...

I guess it depends upon each individuals personal preferences to noise reduction... As is...

Unless 4 second delays between the P7700's RAW capture amounts to excellence...
