Submitted a challenge entry Megan
Placed 34th in the challenge. I had been looking to get some good natural light portraits of my daughter... We headed to the park this past week to give it a go (for the upteenth time). We were quickly dismayed to find that our wonderful New England spring had not yet produced any flowers and the fountains had not been turned on yet. I came across a couple of Dogwood trees--the only thing with any flowering, and I decided I was going to have to make the best with what I was given. I placed my subject daughter in the branches among the trees and shot a few angles using a reflector for bounced light. It was harsher than I wanted so we changed it up to using the diffuser instead. That seemed to do the trick. After metering with a light meter, I set her up and shot different perspectives & poses while framing her in the branches.

Thanks Dave.I have to agree. HDR lends itself to an over-the-top look. I like it in theory because it allows me to compensate for the fact that the dynamic range of a scene may be difficult to...

This definitely worked in b&w...you could crop in a little tighter..but not much...It is hard to know what will convert well to B&W...I generally find situations with a lot of texture and/or...
