The Canon 24mm takes a filter. You must be thinking of the 17mm
-
They are up on Lenstip. Remember their images have no sharpening applied.
Hopefully they will do a comparison against the Canon lens which costs twice as much.
-
The lens would be called 24-70 2.8 IS. There would be no II designation since there hasn't even been a first version yet with IS.
-
One should never use IS while on a tripod. Some lenses (I believe the 70-200 F2.8 IS II) can detect a tripod and disable IS.
When you tested mirror lockup, did you use a 2 or 10 second timer?...

Wow thank you! These files are pretty amazing in their ability to be pushed. Noise yes, but banding no. Noise I don't mind so much. Banding is just ugly no matter what.

Hello!I am having a frustrating time purchasing a Sigma 8-16 lens. With three copies tested, all appear to have some decentering issues meaning that one side is sharper than the other. This is...

Hello!I am going on a 17 day photo trip to Hawaii. Kauai, Big Island, and then Maui for some fun. This is an expensive trip and I go on them rarely, so I don't want to regret not having a...

Nice work! It looks like the 70-200 lets a bit more light through.

35mm 1.4? Can you post a sample of how stars look with it?
-
The 35mm is 1.4 and the 14mm is 2.8. So it depends on if you are looking for deep space or a wide angle. I'm interested in trying the Sigma 35mm 1.4 myself, although it vignettes like crazy along...

I find that the Samyang 14mm and 35mm lenses are great for astrophotography if you want a wide FOV. Manual focus in live view is essential. Since these lenses have hard stops, you can determine...

I am trying to decide between these two cameras. I have been waiting for Canon's answer to a high MP D800, but I cannot wait any longer because I have a photography trip coming up.I primarily use...

How are you liking your 6D for astro work? I'm trying to decide between the 5D III and 6D. The 5D is a better camera in every way for me except for the sensor... so depends on how much difference...

Now when I look at the photo is seems like somebody shopped a lens into the background :)
-
Thanks! That is what I wanted to hear :)

I would like to know this as well. I have the Samyang 35mm which is great for stars at F2, but it would be nice to go F1.4 if possible.

Hello 6D users! I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me:1) While in live view, does pressing the magnify button zoom in or do you have to hold it down and rotate the wheel? I...

Thanks John!Since I am doing time lapses, I need to leave some headroom available for when the scene changes. For example if the sun comes out briefly from behind a cloud. Often times I use...

I purchased it as a refurb. Perhaps this is why. Otherwise it has been an amazing camera. Just has problems with sky.
