It´s very sad... With NX1 Samsung was finally born as a serious company for photo/videographers. And this baby with impressively fast evolution is killed before maturity...Talented creative team of scientists and designers finally created in NX1 perfect photo/video camera, for me the best on consumer market. And a team of marketing "experts" is giving it up without even giving it proper chance instead of supporting their own child. Development was outstanding but marketing team simply fail to sell it. And this faulty team is giving it up for all company. It´s a decision, which says verdict: Samsung doesn´t have the balls of self-confidence, it has marketing-confidence instead. What we can expect with this attitude? Camera for Homer Simpson?
The continuous denial of any full RGB sensor Sigma/Foveon camera for various funny reasons, especially in studio comparsion scene makes me laugh...What will dpreview do, when future cameras will end up (and they will :)!) with layered sensors? For now, dear photofriends, we can get insight into Quattro image quality at dpreview comparsion scene this way: select Pentax K-3 II with pixel shift...Get it?:)
That´s nice. Now please make APS-H full color 3-layered sensor with RGB per pixel so I don´t need to bother any more with slow Sigma cameras with unusable autofocus to get ultimate image quality with natural tonality... 15 megapixels will be plenty, what counts is dynamic range and low light performance.Thank you.
"..., I don't consider rangefinders to be Mirrorless cameras... ...packed with mirrors... ...we coined the phrase..."Nonsens! The important difference between mirroless and SLRs is distance between lens and the sensor. It´s about relation lens/sensor(film) and specific image look (influences depth of field and also lens performance - sharpness, contrast etc...). Ranfinders are mirrorless with "optical tool for focusing".
Convergence, big deal... What a marketing article! It´s just camcorder with relatively small sensor. Cameras like GH4, NX1 or A7s are more balanced with real covergence between photo and video, larger sensor and interchangeable lenses. It´s really not about the shape or handle.
Is this guy serious? Chuck please, take a look at these cameras:1) Sigma DP2 Merrill for ultimate pixel level image quality2) Pentax 645 and Nikon D810 for high resolution image WITH great dynamic range and ISO performance3) Samsung NX1 for video features and image quality4) Panasonic GH4 for overall versatility without compromises and possibility to use any lens on M43 mount on mirrorless body5) tiny Blackmagic PCC for ability to shoot 10-bit Prores and 12-bit Raw video6) Sony A7S for magic ISO and dynamic range performanceNow tell me, do you think about your new pricey cameras? What are you going to offer?
Shiranai: Meanwhile at the Canon headquarters:
Manager 1: We rule the camera market.Manager 2: We rule the world.Manager 3: But we don't rule medium format...
Moment of silence, chirping.
Manager 1: Doesn't mind, release a new 5D, squish 50 MP on the sensor, but cripple something so it doesn't compromise 1DX or 5DM3 sales.Manager 3: Video mode, like we always do?Manager 1: Good, but thats not enough. Do something with the ISO!Manager 3: Perfect, we are so naughty.Manager 2: Oh yeah, and the others did that aliasing filter thingie last year.Manager 1: Ok I have a great idea, let's release two 5D models one WITH the aliasing filter and one without, that'll teach them a lesson. Also, put a medium format price tag on them so they know we are serious.Manager 3: But they aren't...Manager 1: Shut up, and make it so. We are Canon, it's not supposed to make sense. The main point is, we release something new.
Evil laughter while picture zooms outside of the headquarter.
Who needs 50 interpolated megapixels with the same dynamic range and same or worse ISO performance as predecessors? Where is some serious improvement for video shooters? Not impressed.
petr marek: OK, nice to see 5 years old camera with new autofocus...http://www.dxomark.com/Reviews/Canon-EOS-7D-Mk-II-review-Low-ISO-performance-lags-behind-rivals/Canon-EOS-7D-Mk-II-vs.-Nikon-D300s-vs-Sony-Alpha-77-II-Competitive-performanceNow do it with some up-to-date camera like Samsung NX1.Thanks.
It´s not only about Dxo...Canon could come with up-to-date video with HEVC h.265 codec, 4K, BSI APS-C sensor, 15 fps with tracking autofocus with 209 contrast points and 205 phase detection sensors, 153 of which are cross-type and more...Let´s compare image quality:http://www.imaging-resource.com/IMCOMP/COMPS01.HTM
Neuroanatomist: So now even Samsung has better Sensors than Canon?
Thanks. Looks very powerful in resolution.

naththo: Why not just wait till they have raw images available?
Yep, same old good image quality as 5 years old 7D.
petr marek: It has Full HD video, yes? Really? Wow!I can shoot 4K video with phase detection autofocus with my Samsung S5 phone...
All you fanboys obviously "see impossible"...in future Canon evolution. Extinction, sorry...
When Canon introduced limited edition Stella McCartney bag with white EOS 100D, I smelled something is wrong... And it really is!
Those executives from Hasselblad, who got fired because of making Sony cameras with wooden grip and lunatic price, works now for Canon...

Awesome!H.265. Sooo tits!!!:)After using S5 cellphone with 4K and great HDR mode I believe this camera is a gamechanger.
Thank you. It´s an excellent idea to compare these two most tempting cameras on the market today.
Exciting and very promising. I like it a lot, looks sharp and reasonable.
