1. I already have the GX1 and the 14 and the 17. I've owned an EM5 in the past, love the camera and agree about all the advantages. Saying that, I've been able to get great shots with the GX1 no...

20mm is too tight for me. The 17mm 1.8 negates my need for either the 14mm or 20mm. Plus I don't like the focus speed of the 20mm on the E-M5. It's quite a bit slower on that body.

I'm planning to have a back-up camera as well. Would you guys prefer:
2x GX1 + 1x LVF2 + 17/1.8 + 60/2.8 DN
or
EM5/GF2 + 14/2.5 + 60/2.8 DN
This kit would be my travel setup. I really only need two...

Like I said, I'm trying to stay under a certain budget. I don't find the 14mm lacking in sharpness, but the 17mm does have the extra stop or so of light gathering.
-
If you could pick between the two setups, which would be your choice? The EM5 is the better camera, but the 17mm is the better lens. Either setup will be used for general walk-around photography,...

He's a white guy, photographing other white people. It's not like he dressed up as a lion and gained the trust of a pride of lions. Not exactly what I call hard photojournalism.

JWest...£20,000? Is that like $2? I have no clue what you're sputtering about!

I have a Nikon V1 and indeed they hybrid focusing is good...in good light. In low light it loses that advantage. There is still merit in mirrored cameras and I consider it far from outdated tech.
-
Outdated PDAF tech? That outdated tech still focus tracks moving subjects better than all the mirrorless cameras combined.
-
I've come to the conclusion is that none of these mirrorless systems are perfect. I'm going with the Nikon 1 and Micro Four-Thirds to keep with a versatile kit. ;-)

Why not use the electronic shutter which gives you 1/16000th?

This guy is a better photographer than many of the gearheads that fester on this site! Good stuff.

I'm going to guess the 32mm 1.2 is superior in every way, except for price! Saying that, I have no problem with the 35mm 1.8 DX. It's a little bulky on my V1, but it does the job and doesn't break...

I think this service is great. Yes it cost money, but at least the option is there.

I'm thinking of buying this lens so I can use it with my DSLR bodies, but I was wondering how it does on the V1 and FT-1? If anyone has this combination, I'd love to see sample. Thanks!
-
Sorry to hear your dilemma. Ever since I read about DigitalRev trying to pass off a review camera as a new in box item, I seriously would not trust them for any purchases. I'd rather buy refurb'ed...
-
In decent light, the V1 and FT-1 adapted lenses can easily blend into one's workflow side-by-side.

I think you guys at DPreview should spend more time taking compositionally more interesting photographs. I don't care that you use something like the 15mm f/8 body cap lens to shoot your E-P5...

Snooze. I've already used the Nikon V1 on jobs that required complete silence. Works perfectly.

Thanks for advice guys. Now that I think about it, I think I might just get a super zoom like the 10-100mm!
