I was going to recommend this article too, great article and shows what can be done with the adjustments available on lenses, expecially the L series. I would send it in for sure!

Maybe, I just thought that because the macro flower is orange the ring would also look gold.

Interesting, that one also has the gray USM ring instead of the classic gold too.
