Exif is reading 700m, but in actuality Focal length would be 1275mm equivalent.Nice shots.

Actually, the D3 image quality leaves nothing to be desired. It is also unexcelled in it's performance with Ai-S Nikkors.  More pixels does not a better image make. The D3 shoots fast, has awesome...

The 20-35 is one of my favorite lenses to this day, and I use it regularly.You can't beat it's compactness and build quality.Image quality is right up there too.

I feel the 17-35/2.8 is still a far better lens than the 16-35. Despite glowing sharpness claims for the 16, the 17-35 is far sharper throughout most of the central image, and only falls behind...

It should probably be noted that the TC's performances can vary widely depending on which lens they are deployed on.The TC14 is general great on most everything.The TC20/III is definitely better...

Just a guess, but is there an eyepiece shutter on your camera? Looks likr light entering eyepiece from behind. In long exposures - that needs to be covered.

Both the 1.4 and 1.7 TC's would give you much better IQ than with the 2.0/III.Also faster focusing/tracking for birding/action purposes.

Very doubtful you would see any differences whatsoever between the two 2.8's. VRII i'm sure has slightly better vr abilities, but that's not my thing, and I never use it. You will get sharper...
