Would recommend FD L glass over a mirrorlens anyway, the fixed mirrorlens-aperture and almost spartanlike critial focus isnt recommended when starting out with long tele's, the longer lenses are...

Guess its a wonderfull lens to shoot birds with so I just bought one after seeing yours and having seen some samples on pbase, I'll review it once I've used it.

Photographed with several FD L lenses, mostly in the 400mm range (both f4.5 and f2.8) but also with smaller ones. I also shot with a EF 400mm L f/5.6 on a Canon 40D and there's just no comparison...

As allready made clear mirrorlenses arent any good for birds in flight though for your average birdshots they do pretty well. Thought that was clear allready but there you have it. Doing birds...

Hahaha, you guys are to easy really but suit yourselve's, all fine by me, personally I like the challenge mirrorlenses give me while lenses like the older FD L Canons have challenges of their own...
