This post in my blog is still my experience with G1X batteries:

Thanks for catching my error -- don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that. The connections and compatibility are as you said. There are, of course, adapters and my intervalometer actually...

You can assemble your own time lapse video from many single shots. With the G12, G1X and, I assume, the G15, you'll need an external intervalometer. The basic procedure is- pick a...

Here's my kit for the G9, http://lightdescription.blogspot.com/2008/04/my-g9-kit.htmlAfter getting a G12, I bought a Domke F5XZ "man bag" and moved most of the G9 kit into it. I now use the G1X...

You can get a cheap set of closeup lenses to play with until you find a 250D:http://lightdescription.blogspot.com/2012/02/canon-250d-close-up-lens.htmlHere's some comparative shots with and without...

How much + / - is AEB set for? Is the flash turned on?

My Yongnuo RF-603 and 602 work with the G1X, http://lightdescription.blogspot.com/2012/09/yongnuo-rf-603.htmlI previously had the Cactus triggers and would have expected them to work with the...

The digital tele-converter works better and differently than I first expected. Here's my own tinkering with it: http://lightdescription.blogspot.com/search/label/digital%20tele-converter

Good point about the "digital teleconverter" feature. For those who do not use RAW and prefer minimal to no post processing, it is a wothwhile feature. See my examples at...

You'd be attaching something large and heavy to the end of the zoom lens. I know you said teleconverter but here's how a wide angle adapter lens might look: ...
-
This is a horrible crippling of the G1X. Somehow, this must be necessary or perhaps considered a "feature" by Canon because it is the same in all the G series cameras.
-
I have the G3, G6, G9, G12 and G1X , http://lightdescription.blogspot.com/2010/11/g-3-6-9-12.html , and use each on occasion. The G3 was probably the "best for its time" but my preference is to...

Excellent point about the batteries. Ambient light, ISO and distance to main subject are also factors in the power expended with each flash.
-
Probably needs an interval of 3 to 4 seconds between shots. You might try increasing the ISO to, say, 1600 and adjust so that the exposure includes more ambient light and therefore less flash power.
-
Me either, I'm too absent minded.

The G12 also has evaluative metering as the default on startup regardless of the previous setting. This is not a bug.

Mean to reply to the OP, sorry Carolyn.

Although I prefer the 250D, http://lightdescription.blogspot.com/2012/03/g1x-macro.htmlI've also used a cheap set of closeup lenses, shown here with my G9: ...

For the G1X, you'll need a macro conversion lens and adapter to attach it, see http://lightdescription.blogspot.com/2012/03/g1x-macro.html
