On Lubbock, Texas challenge (8 comments in total)

I don't even know anyone who's been to Lubbock, TX. And, I grew up in Oklahoma ;-)

I liked this one a lot - nice and crisp, interesting scene and nice DOF. Nice shootin!

Are you looking for motion blur? Your example implies yes, but your rules never mention.

Some how, this collection just doesn't say "Dallas" to me ;-)

In reply to:

santamonica812: 8 out of 21 entries DQ'd for not voting (or not fully voting) in the challenge. sigh.

I would vote, but with a rule requiring entrants to vote, no thanks. Just another unnecessary rule. You are only asking for voting bias.

I'm beginning to think that you enjoy DQing folks.

Far weirder than the winner! Congrats on 2nd place.

On Bugs challenge (9 comments in total)

Good luck with this one. I already see a DQ - a spider. Also, an entry that is unidentified. Even Wikipedia doesn't seem to have a firm grip on what you are asking for.

"No spiders, bees, flies, etc.)" Please define "etc."

On Bhutan--anything goes challenge (2 comments in total)

This was a small challenge, but I thought the entries were well above average. I had a nice time voting.

On Nepal--anything goes challenge (4 comments in total)

Why do you say "anything goes," and then place a shopping list of restrictions on what can be entered? Clearly, anything doesn't go.

I knew this would finish high. Very colorful and prefect exposure. You Aussies definitely have the most colorful birds.

That is a dynamite shot! Awesome detail on the head cap and a beautiful bird. I wondered if yours would win. Maybe the less than perfect bokeh did you in.

On Rufous Male in the Little birds challenge (10 comments in total)

Congrats of the win! You really nailed that one. I always assume a hummer will win these bird challenges, but in this case, IMO, yours was the best entry.

Nice shootin!

On Egret vs. RWBB in the Animal Species: 2 or More challenge (2 comments in total)

Extra nice light on that. Few folks appreciate the difficulty of catching two birds in focus, much less two different species.

Nice shootin!

Great idea for a challenge. Looks like you've got some dynamite entries.

Congrats! It's a beauty. The distortion drew me away from my highest vote, but a worthy winner anyway.
