On Birds in the Nest challenge (17 comments in total)
In reply to:

Harvey Grohmann: Speaking from 30+ years of wildlife photography I've photographed & documented wild (wilderness) & acclimatised birds (living in close proximity to humans) on their nests & have NEVER recorded abandonment of the chicks. It is very difficult to find & photograph birds in the wilderness & if found it is done with the utmost of care, respect & distance. Most of the images I see entered in this challenge appear to be in an environment either created by or inhabited by man so the birds have long grown accustomed to human sights & sounds. Some of you have not thought through your comments intelligently or with much logic. Simply look at the amount of artificial nesting sights pictured or nests built on human structures and rethink some of your arguments. Furthermore human structures & endeavours to encourage birds to breed in nest boxes as well as on our buildings (bridges, causeways, highways, pylons and the like) have caused population EXPLOSIONS; swallows & pigeons to name but a few.

I fully agree.

Technically, the best shot. Also, my favorite. Should have ranked higher.

Congrats on 2nd place. I really like the shot, but knocked off a point due to the postage stamp size.
