canon6188: Do not need to over analyse the sample. In general 5D mark III is good improvement over 5D mark II. Stop slicing the tiny winy different and get yourself a unit and you know it is a great camera (I just bought one and it has very good real life picture quality). I think underlying problem is the camera is a bit high on pricing. If money is not the main issue, I can't find any major fault with this camera.

If your are a canon user get 5D Mark III; If your are Nikon user get D800 and you can't get wrong about picture quality 99% of the time... With recent advance in technology, even micro 4/3 like Olympus OMD-E produces amazing result with a tiny sensor. Life is too short to woory about the 1% deficiency.

chrismosk: keep in mind the 800 has more MP so it is likely that ISO performance may be worse but after downsizing it will look better.

How to downsize photo using Photoshop Photo do not downsize automatically.

anything involve further processing such as downsizing is a pain in the ass.. we want image to be done right out of the first take instead of going through thousands of downsizing time taken.

canon6188: This is the PERFECT camera ! Nikon users who consider upgrade to D800 shall weep for another 3 years. Huge upgrade in term of auto focus and ISO plus 6 FPS, who needs 36MP noise ridden, computer busting (huge file size) camera of Nikon ...

I am getting one soon, give me .......QUICK ....

Canon's AF do not need to beat Nikon's... But overall package Canon 5 D Mark III is a more capable camera !.

yahoo, this is the perfect lens I have been waiting for almost three years... un-match combination using with 5D mark II...

Nikon user should dump their heavy new D800 with super noisy 36MP resolution and keep thing light and simple for traveling and take more photo with this versatile zoom lens.

Aero Windwalker: Let's see how Canon 5D Mark III is going to kick his ass this round. ;-)

No, 5D mark II is still a very capable body for image quality. Hope that Canon don't go the same MP race as Nikon. I bet less than 0.1% of user need anything more than 20Mp resolution.

When 5D mark II came out with 21 MP, the pros are saying the lens are having hard time keep up with the resolutions. Noted that Nikkor has new lens but 36 MP is lot of resolution for lens to perform well..

In addition, it is very taxing on CPU processing time and transfer time.

FF versus APC-S sensor. 5D mark II is the benchmark which other APC-S senosor try to beat (in term of picture quality) but so far not a single small frame sensor camera can beat 5D !... Or do you know any ?

Xpro-1 has similar size of entry level Canon Rebel or Nikon D3000 but at premium pricing because of 'Leica' look..is it worth the money because of the rangefinder shape or should we go for entry level DSLR for its extensive accessories and lens. Also, DSLR has faster AF speed.
