I'm holding out for the new LF1 as a compact family camera.
Can't beat the LX7 price, though.

I came into this thread expecting fjords...

I would suggest using burst mode to capture multiple facial expressions.
It is a good shot apart from the expression.

beautiful photography!
I have bookmarked your site for future inspiration, thank you for sharing!

I agree with your general sentiment - most street photography I have looked at is not very appealing. There are some of Trent Parke's images that I do really enjoy:...

A cable release isn't really for daily use or fo the majority of situations, it is for special situations where you actually need a cable release.
if you are shooting a long exposure and do not...

To improve the shots I would say: do not stop down to f/22
Using a wider aperture such as f/11 should give you enough depth-of-field. This will also give you a faster shutter speed and less...

I still need a release for astrophotography, lightning and fireworks.
You are right that the touch screen solves some scenarios that previously required a cable release, but releases are not yet...

1. - stop your lens down if you want stars rather than flare
2. - this happens with any lens used wide open at night and aimed at point light sources

The Fuji X10, X20 and X100 all have threads for old-style mechanical cable releases.
The Olympus compacts XZ-1, XZ-2 and XZ-10 can all use the RM-UC1 cable release.
There are probably plenty of...

I have another tip for Olympus cameras not mentioned by Gary.
If you dive into the menus and set 'Lens reset' to 'On', the lens will automatically be set to infinity when you cycle power on the...

Sorry to butt in here:
Yes, it is mirrorless, no lockup necessary
No, not unless you use a third-party solution such as a Triggertrap which includes an intervalometer.
60 seconds in shutter...

Highly doubt it will have either feature.

I suspect it will simply be a higher-spec viewfinder, nothing radical. Maybe the new Epson that has been in the news?
It will almost certainly carry a higher price tag than the VF2 or VF3.
