Searching: Mr. Sanyal's opinions are pretty worthless as he has demonstrated in the past. I don't know how he hangs on to his position at DPR. On top of that, he simply is rude with some of the posters and he shows a lack of class and respect.

This personalised scathing comment is totally uncalled for ...and superfluous as well ...!!
Kindly try to stick to the main subject as elaborated in the video....

same .... sensor as the earlier one [ as in the X100s ...]

And no mention of 'skin smearing in jpegs at high ISOs'..........!![unless I am missing something here]
not to say that one does expect some NR at high ISO in jpegs but this 'affliction' pertains specifically to the out put form XTrans sensors ..except may be the new 24 MP offering .....

some comments in this regard from the dpr/users will certainly be appreciated...:)

thx1138: The author must be blind. The RAW DR test clearly shows the Fuji at +4EV is actually slightly worse than the Nikon at +5EV and much worse at +5EV. Also it's clearly not ISO invariant, the ISO 200 + 4 EV boost is noticeably worse than the ISO 800 +2EV boost. It seems +3EV is best you can do.

Also the studio scene shows the Nikon reveals finer detail.

bingo...

to Mr Butler .
.I was hoping to see high ISO portraits from the X70 ...I think u have added only for the X-PRO-2 ...I think they are different sensors ...

Kindly see if it is possible to add some high ISO portraits in the X70 section too ...:)

regards

To darngooddesign !
Sir ..I did look at the review of the X70 by Mr Jonasrask...and did not find any mention of skin rendering at high ISo ..then I left a comment in the relevant section ..to which he responded ..saying the situation is unchanged in the new X70 as compared to the earlier models ..hence for best results shooting RAW is advised for high ISO portraits ...

you can find the comment and it's clarification here...

perhaps your mention of 'waxy skin gone till ISO 6400' refers to the review of the X-PRO-2 by the same person ....[sice it is a new sensor and the flagship model ].....this I have not yet read
...

THANK U FOR MENTIONING THE PAGES OF JONASRAK ....very inspiring site ..:):)

Another nice DSLR from Nikon .....

however it will have it;s share of front/back AFing issues [PDAF]with the otherwise excellent 35mm F/1.8............
alongwith the inadequate CDAF while using the video .....

but otherwise great in all other ways.....[IQ and all that..... ]

Maybe at Canon the R&D have hit a plateau at sensor evolution /development .......[and cannot admit it for obvious reasons..] .....hence the overemphasis on all other fronts .....
